This is the year that I vowed to do new things. I want to go places, see things and experience it with my family. I have to do it solo because my husband doesn't have vacation time this year (insert sad face here). One place that has been on my bucket list and that I have always wanted to check out is the Holland Tulip Festival. On a whim, my friend Denise and I decided to pack the kids in the car and go! Denise happens to be a kick ass photographer and has a daughter. Two moms, two cameras, three kids, woowhoo! We planned outfits, shared ideas and basically turned this into a ‘photograph your kids in front of a bunch of tulips trip’. The only thing that we didn't count on was the cold weather and the lack of tulips in bloom. This is Michigan, we should have known better. While we didn't get to frolic in fields of blooming tulips, as I had totally envisioned in my photographer brain, we did get to see a new place and we learned what not to do next year. Because of course, there will be another trip. ;)
I have decided to share a small portion of our trip. I could have provided you with an elaborate photo documentary of all the little moments, milk shake breaks, swimming in the hotel pool, walking around downtown Holland. These are great but I had to really cull down my images and decided to stick with tulips. Because after all , that was the purpose of the trip! ;) These images were taken at the Windmill Island Gardens.
